Bio-K Plus International Inc.: A research-based company - from fundamental experimentation to evidence-based clinical results
Bio-K Plus International Inc. has built its reputation upon solid experimental results from in vitro and in vivo studies, followed by the acquisition of clinical evidence of the effects in humans through clinical trials. This research process developed from an initial recognition and patent protection of bacteria with well-demonstrated probiotic properties. Under the guidance of a Scientific Advisory Board, a number of in vitro and in vivo studies were undertaken, the results of which have been published in peer-reviewed scientific journals. These basic research results prepared the ground for the initiation of double-blind, randomized clinical trials versus placebo. Initial studies investigated the therapeutic effect of Bio-K+®. A subsequent major study has demonstrated that the effects of Bio-K+® are dose related, with a remarkable efficiency at higher doses. The results of these studies have been published in highly respected scientific journals. Other fundamental and clinical studies are underway. Bio-K Plus International Inc. is a proud sponsor of the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of Canada.
2010 marks the 15th annual “Heel ‘n’ Wheel-a-Thon” held by the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of Canada. Every year, thousands of Canadians in almost 80 locations across the country walk, run, ride, in-line skate, skip… anything that uses their heels or wheels to raise money to find a cure for Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) which affects one in 160 Canadians. Canada has one of the highest rates for Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis in the world .The annual Heel ‘n’ Wheel-a-Thon campaign spreads awareness of IBD, offers invaluable community support, and raises much-needed funds to continue essential CCFC-funded research programs. Bio-K Plus International Inc. is proud to support the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation, participating in several Heel 'n' Wheel-a-Thon fundraising events in different cities in Quebec and Ontario. In addition to fundraising, the events present an opportunity for friends, families, and caregivers to obtain information on inflammatory bowel disease, and to speak with those afflicted on improving the quality of life of their loved ones. In 2009, $1.77 million was raised for research through the efforts of the volunteers and participants in the Heel ‘n’ Wheel-a-Thon campaign. We invite all members of the healthcare community to join us at these upcoming events:
